What Is Laser Therapy for Animals?
Animal laser therapy is a non-invasive form of pain management that allows your pet to experience relief without the use of surgery or drugs. It can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions, including hip dysplasia, degenerative joint disease, arthritis, stiffness, sprains/strains, post-surgery pain, post-dentistry pain, hot spots and skin infections, ear infections, and traumatic injuries like fractures and puncture wounds. Laser therapy can be used on its own or in conjunction with other treatments.
The process is simple and entirely pain-free:
- Non-thermal light photons are administered for a period of about three to eight minutes.
- These photons are then absorbed by injured cells.
- Injured cells are stimulated, leading to a higher metabolic rate in response to the stimulation.
- This in turn, leads to reduced inflammation, improved circulation, and a faster healing process.
- Patients typically experience near-immediate relaxation and pain relief.
Many of our patients exhibit signs of contentedness and enjoyment during the procedure itself. Pets that are initially stressed and anxious may begin to relax and even fall asleep during laser therapy. Afterward, our clients often report that their companions have increased mobility and an overall better quality of life.
