Externships

EXTERNSHIPS

For Third & Fourth Year Veterinary Students (U.S. Accredited Schools) Only

Our externships are tailored to each individual student depending on personal interests and school requirements. They are available year-round to 3rd and 4th year students only and for any length of time. (Undergraduates and 1st/2nd year students may ask us about shadowing a Doctor).

We do not currently have an Intern Program for Veterinarians.

There is one bedroom available, which has access to a kitchen and bath upstairs in the clinic. Housing is free but available on a first come/ first served basis. Students interested in externships should fill out our Externship Inquiry Form and application. You will need to email the form and the following materials to Jen Geese at jgeese@quakertownvet.com to be considered for a spot:

  • A photo of yourself
  • A letter of intent
  • A letter from your school acknowledging that your stay with Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is to further your education.
  • A copy of your health insurance card (front and back)

A bed will be reserved for you once confirmation is received. You may also contact Jen to confirm current availability.

Externship FAQs

Who can participate in an externship?

Externships are open to students currently attending veterinary schools that are U.S. accredited.

How do I apply for an externship?

It is easiest to apply for an externship via the online form. You will also need to email the following materials to Jen Geese at jgeese@quakertownvet.com:

  • A photo of yourself
  • A letter of intent
  • A letter from your school acknowledging that your stay with Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is to further your education.
  • A copy of your health insurance card (front and back)
  • Copy of your liability insurance for the calendar year in which your externship takes place

The externship schedule fills up quickly and is on a first come first serve basis. We do not have any restrictions on the length of your stay. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Geese at (215) 515-8810.

Do you provide housing? Do I need to have my own transportation?

Quakertown Veterinary Clinic can accommodate 2 same sex students at a time (be aware that you may have a roommate). Providing your own transportation is not a requirement, but would make it easier to get around during your down time.

Is there any paperwork that I need to submit?

Once your externship is confirmed, you will need to send us a letter of intent, a digital picture of yourself and a letter from your school acknowledging that your stay with us is to further your education.

You will also need to fill out the following forms:

These materials should be emailed to jgeese@quakertownvet.com
