What is involved in I-131 treatment?
Clients who are interested in I-131 treatment for their cat will need some lab work performed prior to the treatment. Their cat will need a CBC, Chemistry, T4 and Free T4. If you are coming to our facility from an outside veterinary hospital we will need a copy of your pet’s records. Your feline will stay in the hospital for 96 hours post injection. There is no visitation permitted during those 96 hours, for the safety of the owner. Each owner will be responsible for following an in-home protocol for the duration of two weeks. This will include keeping your cat separate from other cats in the home and wearing gloves while cleaning the litter pan. We will go over all post treatment instructions with you before the treatment takes place.
